Misconceptions We All Need to Know About Wearing Masks

Looking at the current situation, it has been made mandatory by CDC that wearing masks in public settings are important, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. Masks are most likely to reduce the spread of Covid-19 from spreading virus to others.

There are various types of masks available in the market such as surgical masks, cloth mask, N95 and other respirators, cone style masks etc. People are now wearing different types of face coverings which depend on the availability. Many companies have come up with various types of masks, which is making it comfortable for people to wear them.

Custom Earth Promos is one such brand that makes eco-friendly masks from recycled material. They are located at Florida, US and are into manufacturing of top-quality CE-certified masks. Not only that, they are also into manufacturing of reusable custom bags, which are all made from natural, recycled water bottles and other recycled material.

While it is clear that we all have to wear mask, there are few myths that keep popping up, which needs to be cleared for our readers:

  1. Myth 1: Cloth masks do not protect you

Reality: Cloth masks are a good option to protect you from spreading coronavirus. They become a barrier between your face and the other person around you. They not only will protect you from the droplets released from the opposite person’s sneeze, coughing and breathing, but it will also help in unknowingly spreading your disease to anyone else. Hence, it is important to wear it in every public place where social distancing is difficult.

  1. Myth 2: Other masks are more effective than cloth mask

Reality: Cloth masks are equally effective as other masks. The only thing is that we need to use them well to cover our mouth and nose both. As long as we are not working for any medical services, we can wear cloth masks and leave those PPE (personal protective equipment) to medical officers as there is shortage of this equipment.

  1. Myth 3: Wearing of mask doesn’t allow you to breathe enough oxygen and lead to breathing of too much carbon dioxide.

Reality: According to WHO (World Health Organization), prolonged usage of masks will not make you breathe in less oxygen and does not lead to carbon dioxide intoxication. In fact, it is safe for doctors and nurses to wear masks for more than 8 hours of their shift.

  1. Myth 4: If we are wearing a mask than we do not have to practice social distancing.

Reality: Wearing a mask is just one way to protect our self from Covid-19. However, other than that, it is very important that we maintain safe distance from others. Especially, if you have any health complications, you need to maintain social distancing.

  1. Myth 5: You need to wear mask only if you are sick

Reality: According to CDC, studies have shown that coronavirus is asymptomatic. Hence, it is important that you wear mask even if you do not feel sick. This is to avoid spreading the disease unknowingly to others.
